Quicktime Firefox Controls My OS X 'open With' Menu Is Out Of Control. How Can I Clean It Up?

My OS X 'open with' menu is out of control. How can I clean it up? - quicktime firefox controls

When I right-click a file on my OS X (10.4) and use a Mac with the "Open With" menu, I see tons of duplicates in the list. For example, when I see the right mouse button and use "Open with" in a text file, Firefox, I listed about 20 times and 10 times the list WriteRoom.

How do I clean the "Open With" menu for hidden applications just want to show only by file type - and duplicates. I think WriteRoom enhancements and updates are probably the culprits here, but I also see QuickTime Player appears twice, so maybe it is wrong for OS X.

The problem is rather that requests for duplicates on your hard drive, but Launch Services database.

You need to start a command in the terminal, which cleans the Launch Services database. The command can not have stayed here, because the system did not work long lines. Check the connection of my sources. This worked for me.

You have multiple copies of these programs on your hard drive!

Skip to search and search for "Firefox" ... get rid of extra copies.

Or I can be your online backup drive ... consists of multiple copies of any use!

(And I already have ... and now I'm not!)
